1 /5 Katia Nicholaw: I would strongly caution anyone considering this law firm.
I contacted Beacon Legal Group for assistance with a probate and guardianship matter. During my initial call, someone from the office took our full probate history and collected $5,000 from me — but I later learned that this individual was not an attorney. At no point during the call was I informed of their role. It was only after I followed up that I was told I had been speaking with an “intake.”
Nearly two weeks later, I was finally contacted by a licensed attorney, who informed me that the firm could not take the case because they do not handle guardianship matters. I was also told I could not serve as guardian due to not being a Florida resident — a fact I had clearly disclosed from the outset. Instead of acknowledging their oversight, the firm implied that my lack of family in Florida was the issue.
Since then, I’ve spoken with other attorneys who were willing to review my situation thoroughly and let me know whether they could help — without charging thousands of dollars upfront and without misrepresenting the scope of their services.
I requested a full refund, and while I received a partial refund, I have had no further communication from the firm — which, unfortunately, is no longer a surprise. In my experience, this firm was quick to take payment, slow to communicate, and unwilling to take responsibility. Intake personnel should not be providing legal advice, and clients deserve transparency before making financial commitments.
What’s most concerning is that the firm knowingly kept part of my money after misleading me into believing they could take the case. That is not only unethical — it’s predatory.
Please use extreme caution before trusting this firm.
