1 /5 P S: A very dishonest agent. My experience
I spent a week at the Rescue Outreach Mission Sanford, a homeless shelter for my safety and security and because of my serious medical issues as well as for work assistance and to find a stable home. I became homeless because of medical issues. It started with glaucoma surgeries, treatments. I will be 71 this weekend. It cost me thousands in savings because I could not work. I am slowly but surely going blind.
Several days ago while I was parked in front of the facility, “shelter”, a crazed woman entered the property and while I sat in my car she proceeded to severally, maliciously, violently vandalize my car. It shocked me, I did not get out and she ran off down the sidewalk.
There is surveillance video viewed by the police of the incident.
The trauma still impacts me; the fact that some crazy person in broad daylight could do what she did, without fear of confrontation, serious consequences, and that because the security within the facility is non-existent, that she could have run into the facility with a weapon and killed many people, that if I confronted her I may have been seriously harmed or worse, the trust I had regarding a “Shelter”, a refuge that supposedly offered safety and security was broken, misplaced.
The criminal also did the same to another car that was unoccupied, but the owner was reluctant to file a Complaint because the facility convinced him not to do it. His damages were not as severe as mine are, about $2K.
The incident was caught on surveillance video, I took pics of the damages (about $2K worth), I filed a police report (the facility refused to call 911), and I requested from the Director that a claim be filed with the facility’s insurance company, but he refused arguing that all that park on the property do so at their own risk. At all relevant times there are no such postings on the property and when admitted no disclosures provided.
I also pointed out that there isn’t any security within the facility, its property and that there are people smoking marijuana on the sidewalk facing the property, drug deals and that on top of that, fire safety issues. No one is searched for guns, weapons of any type, drugs, alcohol and I have actually witnessed someone outside on the sidewalk yelling, threatening an individual with violence within the facility.
Nothing prevented the crazy woman from entering the facility with a weapon. There are men, women and children that enter the facility and women sleep on cots alongside the men at night. The facility is a tragedy waiting to happen. Just imagine, all in an enclosed room, two exits, if a shooter angry about a drug deal comes in through the front door, most will not have a chance getting out the back door and those in the dorms to the left and the right will really be trapped, same if there is a fire, especially if the incidents take place at night.
There are no security people, they open doors just with a knock, most of the time the doors are left open because the staff is too lazy to open the doors to let people inside, and again, during the day you have children going in and out of the facility, including when it is time to eat.
The Director and his insurance agent refuses to provide me info regarding their insurance carrier so I can file a claim and yesterday , despite a written approval for me to remain in the facility for a longer period of time than allotted, because of my medical issues they wrongfully despite the written assurances evicted me without money, a place to live and including with a heart and medical condition causing blindness as
