1 /5 Nick Harper: I went to the Baileys Gym (it became Chuze last year) on Merrill Rd for 25 years of my life, that place was a comfortable home away from home where I could get my workout on. Unfortunately they closed their doors last Friday permanently. I had attended the Monument location a couple of times but always took note about how tiny and overcrowded it seemed to be. I came in at 930 on a Monday morning (today) for a quick workout to find crowds standing around waiting to use equipment and weights. Why Chuze thought it was a good idea to close a gym with 1000 members and tell them to go somewhere even smaller and more crowded is beyond me. If I wanted to only do pushups and dumbbell curls I would workout at home for free. That was all it took for me to go gym shopping. I went ahead and canceled my membership before my annual fee comes out, Ill be frequenting LA Fitness for a few months while a new gym company moves into the old Baileys Merrill Rd location (should be open by February for anyone interested) I tried but at the end of the day the Monument location is tiny, overcrowded, and in need of a lot of updates within.
