The way my mother was treated at the store just now makes me very curious as to how this particular business gets all these five star ratings.
On the positive side, she took a bracelet in and they fixed it at a very good price a couple of years ago. Then the bracelet had another issue with it, that needed to be welded down in order for it to be integral again. When she took it in, she asked them if they would give her some credit for a ring she had bought there several years prior. She used to work in the jewelry industry and said I have never seen a company not give some form of credit towards their own product that they sold. Even if it was only 30% of the original value, offer something. Otherwise it seems suspicious to me. Why wouldnât you buy your own product back at a significant discount and just resell it?
So that leads into today. She had left the bracelet (not their product to be fair, but they fixed it before) with them to fix. I happen to be in town and went in with her and they said no charge. And when I hear a jewelry store, say no charge, I am immediately suspicious. But I thought since she had gotten it fixed there before and had actually bought something from them, that they were doing something nice. But we get in the car and before we can even get out of the parking lot, she notices it has not been fixed. But does see a black mark that looks like a solder mark in the area where it wouldâve been fixed. So we went back in the store.
This is where they earned their one star review. Not only did the gentleman there who I assume was the owner say âoh sorry we canât fix thatâ, he quickly and rudely brushed her off for some other Customer that came through the door. I mean, totally just walked away from her.
And because I am a creative analytic, I wanted to explore further. I came home and took a hard look at the bracelet, and it looks like it may be hollow instead of solid. So maybe thatâs why they couldnât fix it. But give a reason why you canât fix it. Be kind. How about be as kind as you are when the customer comes through the door and you want to sell them something? Try that on for size!
To conclude: I thought this treatment of a 81 year old woman was deplorable. This is not the actions of a 5 Star business. Maybe 3-4âŚ.
