  • Swamp City Fitness - Gainesville
Justin Langhout: Swamp City Fitness is hands down one of the best training environments I’ve ever stepped into. From the moment you walk through the door, you can feel the energy and the dedication that flows through the place. The atmosphere is electric — serious lifters, athletes, and everyday people all pushing themselves to get better, surrounded by a supportive and motivating community. The facility itself is top-notch. You can tell that the owners take pride in keeping everything clean, organized, and functional. There’s an incredible variety of equipment — from strongman implements and specialty bars to power racks, turf space, sleds, and conditioning gear. Whether you’re here to build strength, drop weight, prep for a show, or just live a healthier lifestyle, they have everything you need to make it happen. What really sets Swamp City apart, though, is the coaching and community. The trainers don’t just hand you a program — they teach, motivate, and make sure your technique and mindset are dialed in. The members treat each other like family; everyone cheers each other on, celebrates PRs, and keeps the vibe positive and goal-oriented. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to show up every day and give 110%. You can tell there’s passion behind this gym. Every corner of it feels built by people who live and breathe fitness — not corporate nonsense, but real-world strength and grit. Whether you’re a strongman, powerlifter, athlete, or beginner looking for a new start, Swamp City Fitness is where you’ll find your tribe. If you’re in Gainesville or even just passing through, do yourself a favor and drop in. You’ll leave stronger, motivated, and probably with a few new friends who lift just as hard as you do.
    The Ark Fitness - Gainesville
Claire Edmiston: Such a great gym, Coach Mike is a really dedicated and enthusiastic coach who’s created a super warm and welcoming environment. Lots of very talented lifters here for inspiration but still beginner friendly. Would absolutely recommend to anyone. Thank you Mike!
    Liv Athletic - Gainesville
Michael Sheppard: Before I joined LIV I was running. It was not enough. My wife has been going to LIV for several years and she looks and feels great! Now I have great workouts and even lost fat and gained muscle in my first 12 weeks. I feel great and love the workouts. The coaches are amazing and walk you through the moves, giving tips along the way. LIV has a friendly and welcoming vibe; everyone I workout with is great! If you want a well balanced and challenging workout LIV is the gym for you!
PEAK Strength & Fitness - Gainesville
Teig Lawrence: Dr. C and the guys did an amazing job training my son who is a college QB. My son was working on his strength and quickness with Dr. C. He is literally a different athlete now. Dr. C is the real deal. Highly recommend!!!
Beast Mode Boxing and Fitness - Gainesville Gym - Gainesville
Sally Virzi: The entire staff genuinely listens and focuses on what you want and your goals. As soon as you walk in the gym you know you’re gonna get a great workout no matter what your fitness and/or boxing level is, you’re gonna get results, and you’re gonna smile through it because the coaches at Beastmode are funny and motivating in a healthy and supportive way. Coach Jitt really cares about his members and is very passionate about what he does. Great personality, excellent boxing and fitness coach.
    Peach Fitness Gainesville - Gainesville
Lily Bajacan: I LOVE this gym. Great staff. Very communicative and friendly. Gym is clean (and no men!) Super safe environment. HIGHLY recommend!!!
    Go Primal Fitness - Gainesville
MHP Calendar: Chris is such a supportive and positive coach. He challenges, encourages, and is knowledgeable in understanding where I’m at base on years of experience working with a variety of clients. He helps refine the movement I’m working on to make sure I’m safe. His ability to create programs that feel balanced and engaging makes going to each session a new adventure. I’ve gained a lot of strength in a short period of time. I’m excited to be back! -Jen G
UF Health Fitness and Wellness Center - Gainesville
Rick Simpson: Ive been a member for a couple of years, and can attest that it is the most economical and friendliest gym ever. I had some medical disabilities and went to the guy to increase my strength and flexibility. There I found that I could work with a personal trainer for $10 (ten) a session, and that included the gym/membership fee!! There is no other lace that I know of where you can do that. The trainers are great, and many are reaching the end of their graduate school studies at UF. The gym is small and intimate, but you have plenty of space to work out, and they have all the machines you will ever need. Cant recommend highly enough.
    Womens Lift Lab - Gainesville
Erin Beardslee: Womens Lift Lab is like a home away from home! Mike and the WLL crew (Michelle, Becca, Emily, Hailey) are knowledgeable, approachable, friendly, and accommodating. The community of members is also incredible, which I think is a sign of a stellar business and atmosphere. Ive been going to WLL as often as possible for the last three months (I wish I had started way sooner) and will be a member for as long as theyll have me!
Gainesville Health & Fitness - Womens Center - Gainesville
Lisa Chacko: I love this gym, but do not understand how if you are going to build a service for women - who are legitimately the busiest people on earth - you’re going to close at 6 o’clock on Saturday and be closed on Sunday. We work, we have kids- these are the times we would come to the gym. Please please please considering amending your hours and staying open on Saturday evenings and all day Sunday for us women who are trying to stay healthy as we juggle all the things. I’m so grateful to have a female only space, but feel like I cannot use my membership adequately since it is closed at the most convenient times for a working woman.
