1 /5 Newman Frances Aurelia: I have been shopping at this JC Penney since my boys were born three decades ago. But Im not the oldest. I have friends that have been shopping here since the store opened 47 years ago. All that to say....
My last visit to the store is why I believe malls are dying all across America and why online shopping is replacing brick and mortar.
The only working registers are by the main parking lot and because there is a long endcap full of product in the middle, two lines form and buyers compete with each other to be next. Even though there is a sign above that tells you where to stand, buyers dont read it and the employees do not correct the shoppers.
So it is a fight to the registers.
Im so, so tired of this.
Older, super loyal customers like me deserve better. We really do.
I was standing under said sign when other shoppers decided to form a line on the other side and beat me to the registers repeatedly. One even insulted me saying she was there first and she played the victim when in fact I was there before all of them.
The worst part is that the employees did not
a) defend me, nor
b) tell the shoppers to stand under the sign to prevent the chaos.
In fact, the employee tried to stop me from going next and even asked the other shopper in the wrong lane if she was next in line!!
Please, just move the long endcap to one side so that there is no question the line should be under the STAND HERE sign.
I also have not been able to find a floor employee in the many years I have shopped there. Got a question? Too bad. You are truly on your own and good luck trying to find the Stylus short sleeve windbreaker that is on the mannequin but NOWHERE on the shelves.
Between poor checkout etiquette, a complete absence of customer service on the floor, and a lack of product on the shelves to match the mannequins on display, I am saying goodbye to this store. Orlando is not that far and the customer service continues to excel in that city. Heck Id even drive to Miami for better customer service.
