1 /5 Deliza Delia: ZERO stars if I could:
I have not encountered such poor customer service in quite some time—likely because I generally choose not to frequent establishments that operate in this manner. My husband and I stopped in while waiting for the rain to pass and decided to inquire about having his Cuban link chain appraised.
A young woman with long dark hair approached us to “assist.” When we asked if we could have the chain appraised, the exchange went as follows:
Customer: Can I get this appraised here?
Employee: Yes, but I just work here. So no, I can’t do that for you.
Customer: (confused) Okay, so then how does an appraisal work?
Employee: The jeweler. He’s the professional, and he does that. And I told you he wasn’t here.
At no point prior to this did she inform us that the jeweler was unavailable. Instead, the interaction came across as dismissive, unprofessional, and unnecessarily rude—leaving the impression that she had no interest in earning our business.
Establishments should be mindful of the staff they place on the front line, as one poor interaction can easily discourage potential customers from ever returning.
