4 /5 Michael Espeseth: I had the chance to try 850 Barbecue at Food Truck Friday in Crestview, and it was hands down one of the best barbecue experiences I’ve ever had. I ordered the 4 Meat Plate and the Mac Attack Bowl, and everything was absolutely incredible.
The brisket was the standout, the most flavorful and tender I’ve ever had, with a perfect bark and not a hint of dryness. The pulled pork was smoky and juicy, the spare ribs were fall-off-the-bone with amazing seasoning, and even the chicken thighs (which can be tricky to keep moist) were cooked to perfection. Honestly, nothing on the plate disappointed, every bite was tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. The Mac Attack Bowl was comfort food heaven, with rich, creamy mac and cheese loaded up with smoked meat. The "Smoked Tallow Noodles" were incredible! The portions were also generous enough to easily feed 2 people and at $15 is a great value!
On top of the food, the people running 850 BBQ were friendly, welcoming, and super accommodating. I was actually the guy who ordered right when their food truck got hit and broke a pipe that night, and even in the middle of dealing with that, they handled it with professionalism and kindness. The food came out in approximately 5 minutes which was insanely fast, especially when compared to other food trucks.
I’ll definitely be back for more and look forward to seeing them again at Food Truck Friday! The food, the service, and the experience all live up to their motto: “It’ll change ya life.”
EDITED - They recently changed the price for the Mac Attack Bowl from $15 to $18 and the portions seemed slightly smaller, more geared towards a single person instead of two. Still a wonderful dish but less of a value unfortunately.
