5 /5 April Forbes: Cafe Paradiso was such a wonderful surprise! We wanted to try something different while in town, and this place exceeded every expectation. From the moment we walked in, we were immediately greeted by several people and seated right away. The owners were absolutely amazing — welcoming, engaging, and genuinely passionate about the place. We had such a great time trying different whiskeys and hearing the stories, history, and conversation behind Cafe Paradiso.
The Speakeasy upstairs is a must-see — such a unique atmosphere with incredible decor. Honestly, the decor both upstairs and downstairs is beautiful and adds so much character to the experience.
Now, the food… AMAZING. Everything was full of flavor and absolutely delicious. I had the Bayou Blackened Unicorn Fish — hands down incredible. My husband ordered the Pollo Carnivale and loved it so much that he ordered it again the second time we visited. We also tried the Jalapeño Bacon Cornbread (delicious), Fried Green Tomatoes (soooo good), and the Sautéed Garlic Portobello Mushrooms — a must-have.
They have an extensive whiskey selection, and my favorite was the 17-year Craigellachie. Dessert did not disappoint either! Chef Gypsy’s New Orleans Sticky Bun was outstanding and even better the next day. The Cinnamon Coffee Cake was packed with flavor and smelled amazing, and the fresh Beignets were absolutely delicious — also even better the next day.
Overall, we loved it so much that we went back a couple of days later, and once again, the experience and food were top-notch. Cafe Paradiso is a true gem, and we can’t wait to return!
