5 /5 Bill Norris: What brought me here today? As a Chicago native, I was searching for the New Haven-style pizza. The ongoing pizza battle between Chicago-style pizza, New York-style pizza, and Detroit-style pizza is a debate among the best places. Ultimately, it is a personal preference, but I am happy to share this small business that is getting it done. I explained to the owner exactly what I was looking for, and he accommodated me.
My wife and I ordered his recommendations and a side of garlic knots. Let me tell you, the flavor of the garlic knots, as they were bathed in garlic butter and accompanied by a side of beer cheese, was excellent. It is indeed a go-to for me in the future. Then it came time to experience the pizza. I gave it a few moments to cool, ensuring a decent flavor effort without blistering my mouth and tongue. The first thing was the crunch of the crispy crust, then the flavor took over. I never would have guessed that something so simple would be this good. I am a Chicago native, after all, and it was my opinion that Lou Malnatis pizza was the benchmark to compete with. This pizza is on a different level and excels.
