1 /5 Cody Davis: Our experience at The Red Heifer was extremely disappointing. I ordered the Porterhouse, my wife got the Reba, and neither steak was cooked properly. I asked for medium-rare, but my steak came charred and well done. My wife’s medium steak was tough, chewy, and overcooked. The waiter clearly saw our steaks were severely overcooked, but after waiting almost 40 minutes, we didn’t want to wait another 40 minutes for replacements. We were told the cook’s temperature gauge was “messed up,” but what kind of cook can’t tell when a steak is done by sight? Both steaks were under-seasoned and bland—I had to drown mine in 57 sauce just to get any flavor. I also got only five shrimp instead of six.
Our only “compensation” was a $7 lava cake. We didn’t even finish our plates—I ate half of my Porterhouse; my wife had only two bites of her Reba. We hate wasting food, but what we had tonight, if we had brought it home, would’ve been fed to the dogs. Spending $100 on this meal was a total waste. Next time, we’ll go to Texas Roadhouse or LongHorn for a properly cooked steak with no disappointment
