This location consists of a basic restroom facility, a single shower as pictured, picnic tables, a narrow and natural walking path between parking and the beach. There’s no life guard is on duty, so this is not a designated swim location. There is a $2 parking fee.

5 /5 Ana Micheli: Peaceful and charming old Florida Treasure Coast Beach on A1A. Bathrooms are clean and offer changing stalls. Short distance from parking to the water. Handicap parking and pavilions with picnic tables available.

5 /5 Nathan Dike: I really loved walking down this beach! Not crowded at all the day we went but to be fair it was during the week. We saw a manatee swimming asking the coast though! So cool! Highly recommend! Just one FYI, there is a $2 parking fee for this state park.

Citrus Hammock Preserve - Fort Pierce

Robin Standlee: A nice quiet walk- saw crows, blue heron, pileated woodpecker, flowers and an armadillo and heard sand hill cranes. Only saw 2 other people there and they had the same experience of frustration from lack of markings on the trail. It had been dry so I was hoping to not have to navigate muddy areas. Not so. It doesn’t seem like it would take a whole lot to address those areas with wood bridges. Because of the lack of signage, I found myself walking on a sidewalk next to the road on the way back to the parking lot. Not bad, but not a preference. I’ll go back, wear some hiking boots and try a different path. If you don’t have a FL state park pass, there is a $3 fee, honor system.

Brenny Denny: Richard E. Becker Preserve is 13 acre park with a half mile hiking trail along Ten Mile creek. They also have campsite and kayak options. Neat little place tucked out of the way.

Nicholas Pense: This is a great hiking and recreational area. Has a disk course, a cabinet with books to read (take one, donate one, selection is mostly kids’ reads) at the parking lot, and an observation tower. The tower at DJ Wilcox Preserve up the road is closed off to public use. Bring bug spray and something to drink.

Scott Fearing: There seems to be a reacting dog poop issue with the same crowd of regulars, especially one older, heavy set white male with entitled/privaleged attitude. He and they sit under the small dog park cover in the corner. I pick up all there dogs poop daily while they sit, laugh, converse with each other and ignore there dogs and the fact that their dogs are pooping a daily average of 20 piles of poop. The main guy get very defensive and even has gotten rude and ignorant towards myself while I clean up as a courtesy to those that have troubles doing it. He has tried to tell me to leave and tell my dog to stop barking. A very rude person for sure. So what your step and what whom you choose to talk to there. I find it all very amusing. And typical…

Wildcat Cove Preserve - Fort Pierce

Bowling Judith (At trailandtable): Fairly level, wide, sandy trail. Little shade or breeze. Lots of crabs. Use insect repellant. Mosquitos are plenty. Bring water for this 3.1 mile trail.

Lake Panasoffkee - Wildwood

Susanna Savage: This place is a hidden gem! Camping is free but you need to make a reservation online at least 24 hours in advance of arrival. There are restrooms with flush toilets and cold water hand washing, but no showers. Most campsites have a picnic table and fire-ring, but not all. Spots are first come, so show up right at check-in time (3pm) on the first day of your reservation for the most options to choose from. There are stables for horses, and a large pavilion. There are some nonpotable water spikets in the campground and on the outside of the restrooms and pavilion, but no potable water. There are TWO seperate campgrounds here, so pay close attention when making your reservation. The Equestrian Campground is best for big rigs (you dont have to have horses to camp there). Its basically a large open field with a only a few trees. Its very accessible and great for solar and starlink. The Primitive Campground is mainly shaded and has lots of low hanging branches. It offers more privacy and shade than the Equestrian Campground, but is not great for big rigs/solar/starlink. This location closes for hunts regularly. The dates of the hunts are on the same website you make your reservation on. During the hunt theres no camping! During some hunts day use is still allowed, but during other hunts the entire place is closed to everyone but the hunters. There are miles and miles of trails to explore and lots of wildlife to be seen. The trails are wide and flat and make for very easy walking. Dog friendly, but watch out for the sand spurs!
