5 /5 Alvin Blocker: This is the first church I can remember that my Dad (Olin Blocker) and My Mother, Dorothy Blocker went to when I was in the 1st, second grade. It was just a little corner block church. I recall my Dad spent many nights there helping to build the new church which now sits next to the smaller building.
I recall the upstairs where my classroom was.
Before the front steps were completed, I remember falling on a Wednesday night and busted my right knee on those blocks. I still have the scar.
I recall another girl and I sang the song I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses and the voice I hear, calling on my ear, the Son of God is calling.. and he walks with me and he talks with me, and he tells me I am his own. And the joy we share as we tarry there, none other has ever known. Still my favorite song.
My three younger Brothers Kenneth, Wayne and Dennis all went there.
