4 /5 Lauren: Decided to come on a Wednesday morning and was surprised to find the parking lot pretty full. I decided to take the trail clockwise to avoid a large group and Im glad that I did because I hardly passed anyone on the trail for at least 4 of the 7 miles.
I didnt see many animals, except for the usual birds, lizards, and squirrels. I did happen to catch two manatees breaking the surface of the water, which was neat and a pleasant surprise.
The trail is relatively easy, but it varies in terrain and may be harder for young children and those with mobility issues. The trail has washed away a little bit in a few spots but nothing difficult to pass. The trail is mostly shaded but there are some brief spots of full on sun. There is a porta potty at the trailhead, but Ive never used it so I cant tell you if its well maintained or not.
Im glad that more people are enjoying being outside, but make sure to read up on trail etiquette so that we can all enjoy this beautiful space for years to come.
