Bridge of Lions - St. Augustine (FL)

5 /5 Shelly Longley: Very cool drawbridge. We walked across it, had beautiful views of the harbor, and lots of boats were cruising. As we were crossing, the bells went off warning that the bridge was going to raise. So we had to quickly get on the other side of the barrier gates, and then we stood and watched the bridge, go up-and-down. It was pretty cool waiting and watching a couple of large boats go under the bridge while we were on it. St Augustine was a great place to visit, and Id recommend seeing the bridge as well.

5 /5 Tikki: The drawbridge is pretty cool. Gorgeous lion statues at the feet, and the top offers a great view of the harbor. On our way back, we actually got to watch the drawbridge in action. Luckily we weren’t in a rush so we just sat back and watched the boat pass through.

5 /5 astrida mcfarland: I am enthralled with the Bridge of Lions! Especially the statues of lions on each end of the bridge!. It is not easy to photograph them because of the heavy traffic and minimal parking spots in this busy area. But when theres a will, theres a way! I did the best I could understand the circumstances. Thanks to a concrete barrier, you can walk the bridge and focus on the sights without facing the risk of navigating car traffic. A walk across the bridge and back to see all four lions is about a mile, and worth every step. The bridge gets its name from two white marble lion statues guarding the bridge on the west side. Commissioned and donated by former St. Augustine Mayor and medical doctor, Andrew Anderson, the lions are named Fiel and Firme, Faithful and Firm. They are copies of Medici lions from Florence, Italy. They are fabulous to look at in person. Put this on your list of things to see in St Augustine.
