5 /5 SANDRA AUSTIN: In early January I was yawning when my right jaw joint slipped out of place and wouldnt go back into alignment. The pain was excruciating and radiated into my right ear, eye, and temple. It was impossible to chew anything but soft food or open my mouth very wide. I saw my regular dentist who referred me to Gainesville. After several weeks the oral surgeon I was referred to gave me Dr Chandras name. She did a specialized CT of the maxillary sinuses and upper and lower jaw that also included oral airway. We began Lazer treatments and 3 times daily exercises. She uses specialized technology to measure the jaw function and point out problematic areas to focus on, sort of like being hooked up to an EEG. Impressions were taken for two orthotic devices. I am using the daytime and nighttime appliances as directed. The nighttime appliance is for life. The lower (daytime) appliance has a possibility of being temporary. My jaw is working its way back into alignment and my pain level is minimal and usually only after grinding my teeth ( which got me here in the first place). Breaking the habit of grinding the teeth is hard but Ive been given the tools to do it now. So thank you Dr Chandra and Caitlin, and all the office staff!
