1 /5 Miguel Vazquez: Ive been attending this church for the past two years, actively participating in various activities, including church services, prayer meetings, and volunteering for the parking lot and Feeding Miami. Despite my dedication and passing two background checks, I have faced unfair treatment and judgment.
One significant issue is the inconsistency in security checks. I have been repeatedly subjected to bag searches, even after demonstrating that my bag was flat and contains only my phone. I responsibly keep my gun locked in the trunk, as Ive shown them and I showed one of the parking attendance on the day they trespass me. However, women’s bags are not searched, and when my mother pointed out that she witnessed a woman carrying a handgun in her purse, the response was dismissive, claiming they trust the "Christian word" of women but not mine, despite my service and background checks.
Furthermore, my mother, who was recently baptized at this church, is trusted more than I am, even though I have been a long-time volunteer. They accuse me of seeking special treatment when all I ask for is fair and equal treatment, similar to that afforded to women.
An additional issue arose with the church’s childcare policy. While I volunteered in the parking lot, my son was expelled from CF Kids because the church stated they only offer childcare for one session, not for volunteers who stay for multiple sessions. They let me know that they do not get paid even though I am also doing volunteer work. This lack of support for volunteers is disheartening.
Moreover, when a distressed person approached me for food, the church refused to help, fearing it would attract more people seeking assistance. This lack of compassion led me to join Feeding Miami to provide help. I discussed this issue with Pastor Alex, and I took it as a calling from God to step in and provide for those in need.
Despite being trespassed from the church, I will continue to host prayer meetings at my home for Christ Fellowship members, treating everyone with the respect and dignity I was denied. This church’s actions have been deeply disappointing, and I hope for a change that aligns more closely with the principles of fellowship and support that a church should embody.
