Ascension St. Vincents Clay County - Middleburg Fyefenix C: My finance recently had a hospital stay at this hospital and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. The primary issue was a severe lack of communication between doctors, nurses, and staff, which led to confusion and frustration throughout my stay.
One major concern was that the nursing staff did not have access to records of medications that were administered in the emergency room. This raised serious concerns about proper dosage and continuity of care. When I sought clarification, I was met with inconsistent responses and an overall lack of accountability.
Additionally, when I requested a patient advocate or a way to escalate my concerns, I was told that no such advocate existed, and that my only option was to speak with the nurse manager. This is unacceptable, as patients should have access to a neutral party to address grievances and ensure proper care.
When I attempted to express my concerns in a firm but non-threatening manner due to the ongoing communication failures, hospital staff responded by calling security. From that point forward, my stay was tagged, which made an already frustrating experience even worse. To make matters worse, security personnel also refused to provide information regarding a patient advocate.
It is also disappointing that after reading the current and past reviews it appears that St. Vincent will only engage with positive reviews while ignoring or failing to address legitimate concerns from patients and their family who have had negative experiences. A hospital should be a place where patients feel heard, respected, and cared for, but unfortunately, that was not my experience. I hope hospital leadership takes these concerns seriously and makes meaningful improvements rather than dismissing valid criticism.
