1 /5 mayra fernandez: I starting going to Comunidad De Fe in Hialeah about 6 years ago. My husband and I picked the church because he only understands Spanish. I come from a bible based Christian church that people, love and community is their message. I never felt accepted in Comunidad de Fe. I’m writing this message because I felt shamed for not wanting to continue with my marriage, and for other women or man that is going through what I went through. This is a topic that most churches don’t want to address. My husband abused me for years. They made it seemed it was my fault and I struggled for years. I attended the marriage discipleship lead by Cesi and Luigi, and they never addressed marital abuse. I was crying for help.
My husband has narcissistic characteristics, he would spend weeks without speaking to me, he didn’t hug me for years, I was treated like a dish rag, second class citizen. This is just a few things to mention, with all this going on the classes would emphasize that women submit to your husband. I suggest to add a chapter to the book, if your husband is not submitted to God, and there is abuse of any kind you need to leave. Jesus does not tolerate abuse. Once your husband abuses you, he is no longer your husband, he’s just a man. You need to find safety.
I finally found the courage and separated from my husband. Went back to the church that I consider home. Where we address all topics and don’t sugar coat what’s against God’s word.
As I continue with my healing and pray for strength, my husband with his narcissistic traits has continued to attend Comunidad de Fe, acting like a victim. I leave it in God’s hand, and just like a saw who he truly is, eventually you will see it too. Nothing that is in the dark, stays in the dark.
