5 /5 Edith White: I love this church. I love this small and old building. There are old people and young families. There are people from different racial or ethnic groups who are active here. I find people very friendly. What is even more important to me is that Pastor Danny and all his assistants (choir, liturgy leader, musicians) really make the church service a real worship service. Pastor Danny makes Scripture come alive. i am often truly moved because he takes the Scripture seriously. He doesnt twist it to make it somehow support some particular "agenda". He gets to the heart of it and gives us a good application. Im truly moved by what the Lord gives him to give to us. We dont just go numbly through the motions of "doing church." Im glad he isnt totally bound by the "lectionary" but sometimes does a series going through a book of the Bible. The people of the church care about the needs of people in the neighborhood, or needy people passing by. They have a "Blessing Box" out by the sidewalk where people can pick up food items. We get together for meals sometimes, often "covered dish" meals. Some people take care of the grounds. Sometimes they help members who need some help. The pastor and two other men came and moved me into a new apartment after the flood. Other people in the church gave me lovely furniture. Still others delivered it. The church gave me financial help after the flood, too. In previous years individuals in this church sent financial help to support my work in West Africa.
If someone reads this and wants to come and visit, I hope we will welcome you as warmly as my mother and I were welcomed when we visited.
