  • Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park - Micanopy Nicole B: This is a great park if you want to get some hiking in while keeping an eye out for wildlife! We spent 5-6 hours through out the park at several different entrances/locations. We hiked multiple trails including the la chua (alligators), bolen bluff (bison), observation tower (bison), and half of cones dike trail. We also stopped at the eco passage observation boardwalk and saw 12+ wild horses using our binoculars. Make sure to take a paid of binoculars as you will want them for a better chance of seeing wildlife if they dont happen to be up close.
Sweetwater Preserve - Gainesville Robert Law: Nice little suburban trails along a creek and up and down a hill. You could almost think youre out in the country. The trails are numbered, but the map is on the back of the notice board so we just meandered around the preserve for a while. I found the map on the way out.
Squirrel Ridge Park - Gainesville Raegan Simpson: It was a great park to play kickball. I didnt use the playground, yet there was one. I dont recall using the restrooms. Spent a couple hours with 50 of my closest friends having a kickball tourney and eating lunch. Several benches to sit at and ample parking.
Jacobitz Winter Wonderland - Gainesville Kelly Jacobitz: This is our house.. we are up and running! Please realize that we cannot keep it running when it rains. It has to dry out before we can get it working again! Please remember this is a family project. Not a business. Merry Christmas!
Cofrin Nature Park - Gainesville Flabeano Castro: Good park, but needs maintenance. Good trails and playground, but there is a metal rebar in the middle of the trail and a wasp nest in the playground.
Survivors Memory Garden - Gainesville Mike P: A wonderful labyrinth, mediation garden, and powerful sculpture of basalt columns representing the survivors grief and loss after a individuals tragedy. Several benches in the shade, after a short stroll, is a great place to sit and reflect.
Tom Petty Park - Gainesville Dylan Demers: Nice park with baseball fields, tennis courts, playground for kids, dog park, pavilion with picnic tables, restrooms, Community board for info :)
Kika Silva Pla Planetarium at Santa Fe College - Gainesville Mariah Loyzer: amazing show! will definitely attend more shows in the future. Mr. James’ show is amazing! free for SF students
