Honeymoon Island State Park - Dunedin (FL)

5 /5 Monique Roberts: This is one of the most beautiful beaches in Florida. White sand, like powder. Once you get closer to the water a decent amount of shells, but they are beautiful. Once in the water there are rocks & coral in some places. Great snorkeling, colorful fish. Low key destination. $8 / car up to 8 people I think. Parking is great, there is more than one lot. There is a nature trail & center. Bring tons of sunscreen ! You will burn if you’re not diligent. I recommend stopping before you get to the park at Honeymoon Sail, rent a kayak, go over to the island or just swim for a bit, you will not regret it.

5 /5 Ramanathan Ramasubbu: I would stay away from Clearwater beach and would do 100 times this beach and state park. Beautiful beach very comfortable for water activities, very low sea weeds and lots of parking available . There is an entry fee and a time restriction that’s the minus, but worthy place to spend time for entire day as in summer sun sets at 8.30 or so. There are plenty of temporary restrooms , showers are missing though which can be. Room for improvement . Overall best alternative beach.

5 /5 Amber: What a great not so hidden gem! Definitely stop by here if you want to have a beautiful time with beautiful nature. Two of us gals spent the day on the beach and it was wonderful. Very clean and clear water and tons of beach space to spread out blankets, umbrellas, etc. They had tons of parking and the port a potties were in abundance without being “nasty”. We even saw a very cute turtle (which I’ve so graciously included a picture of). He/she is BIG! Overall, a fantastic time for a beach if you want to enjoy some of Florida’s best. Don’t forget the sunblock!

5 /5 Stephen Winters: My wife and I went here and spent the day and enjoyed a spectacular sunset! A nice flat beach with one portion between beach houses 1 &2 that had a lot of rocks. Wait till low tide and found a lot of gorgeous shells but also a lot that had either crabs or whelks in them. Would definitely recommend this for a photoshoot for a family event or just spend the day at the beach. $8 for the day, and the trails and beaches are wonderful! Stay for the sunsets! We went, and only Bea h House 3 had working bathrooms, but the other 2 are being rennovatwd after the last hurricane.

From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the natural beauty — pristine beaches, turquoise waters, and peaceful walking trails. It’s the perfect escape from the hustle of city life. We saw dolphins near the shore and tons of seabirds, and the sunset was absolutely magical. The park is clean, well‑maintained, and not overly crowded, which made it even more relaxing. Don’t miss the nature trails through the pine forest — it’s a unique side of Florida most people don’t expect. Great place for a picnic, swimming, shelling, or just soaking in the views. Whether you’re a local or just visiting the Tampa Bay area, Honeymoon Island is a must‑see — especially when you can get in free on Memorial Day!
