Port Royal Beach - Alain D: Beautiful beach, but WARNING there is no parking for non residents here, they will give you a ticket. My trip to the beach cost me $77.00 there is no sign at the end of the road where there are four parking spots. But they will 100% give you a ticket. We actually went to the police station after and they told us they wont put up a sign because its nuisance to the residents who live there. Beautiful beach, like no people. Very clean, but not for tourists.
Briggs Boardwalk - Clemens Wan: A bit of a rickety boardwalk around a quarter mile loop. Definitely wear shoes. I thought thered be a beach but it was just a nice leisurely hike for bird watchers. Loved the mangroves and lookout point. Very peaceful.
Lake City-Columbia County Historical Museum - Lake City Travis George: The Historical Museum is located right off Main BLVD and the admission is free. There is a lot of history to Lake City and there is now a Black History exhibit. They are only open three days a week Tuesday, Thursday and f you have nothing to do it is worth a tour.
Youngs Park - Lake City Anna: Park is dirty, poorly maintained and in a sketchy area of town. Mulch is almost completely pulverized, most of the plat structures are covered in mildue stains, and rust. Random people smoking outside with no children with them and homeless people sleeping on picnic tables.
Alligator Lake Park - Lake City Spencer S: We hiked the James Montgomery Trail. The description says its a “One hour hike” but does not list distance. Well, its 3miles. Lovely trail. We saw alligators and snapping turtles (laying eggs). Restrooms were very clean. This is a wonderful park. Kudos to those that manage it because you’re doing a great job!
Darby Pavilion - Lake City Befaithful Coker: The Darby Pavilion was awesome. The facility is spacious, clean, surrounded by amphitheatre styled seating, a park for playing, and enough space for outdoor games such as tug of war etc with plenty of parking.
Jungle Dorias Wildlife Park - Arcadia Jenn Marie: My family and I had the most incredible visit to Jungle Dorias! We originally went up to upriver adventures for a swamp buggy tour but enjoyed the wildlife park so much that we booked a return visit the following day with a Capybara encounter for our son. Let me tell you, this was the highlight of our vacation. If you are nearby, please stop in for a visit. The staff here are all above and beyond awesome. They are all so kind, knowledgeable, and passionate about the animals in their care. Thank you so much for everything!
Brownville Park - Arcadia Jeremy Tellier: What an amazing experience!!! My family and I drove 3 hours to go fossil hunting. We found a lot of shark teeth and some other really cool stuff in just a few hours! I would highly recommend Brownville park. They also have a campground at the same location that is very affordable! Next time we will definitely camp for a few days
DeSoto Veterans Memorial Park Boat Launch - Brandy Bemis: New 2 million dollar floating boat launch. Very lovely edition to the river. Water fluctuates so use caution when deciding to put your boat in. Great this time of year for seadoo, wave runners, air boats & John boats!!
The Creation Adventures Museum - Arcadia Larry Wayne Klosterman: Large assortment of Florida fossils and fossils from other locations. Small classes with personal attention. Arcadia and the Peace River is an excellent location for hunting fossils with your family. Classes geared for children, but Dr. Parker has a PhD in biology and paleontology.
