5 /5 Cathy: We have several family plots here at Peniel. And I am always pleased with the care that is given to groundskeeping. As this is not a perpetual care cemetery they do keep the common areas quite pleasant

5 /5 Kenneth Boyd: This is an historic place. A truly southern place. Even Civil War Veterans are buried here. We drove to Peniel, near Palatka. Historic oaks with hanging moss overhanging the road. The Peniel Baptist Church is where Billy Graham was ordained. In the adjoining cemetary most of my maternal relatives are buried. Great Grandma Lillie Roberts (1894-1995) and her Bloxam. Alongside Civil War Veterans were many other ancestors, aunts, uncles. Many Great this-and-thats including my Great Great Great Grandma Mary Thomas who was a founder of the church according to the record I found. She and Henry Lucius were from Barnwell, South Carolina. They left their plantation when Sherman marched through in a fiery temper. My family history captivates me. It was hot. it was humid. It was hypnotic. It was haunting. It was hazy. it was humbling. It was heart-warming.
