3 /5 Hua Butler: Powerhouse is a great resource for those in need of food—I’ve seen firsthand how kind and compassionate the volunteers and staff are when serving the community. Their dedication to helping others is truly appreciated.
However, I’ve had a very troubling experience with the main pastor. His behavior has been disrespectful and, at times, racially insensitive. A church should be a safe and welcoming place for everyone—spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. Unfortunately, hearing racially charged jokes from the pulpit made me feel alienated and uncomfortable.
What’s more disheartening is that when I brought up my concerns directly to him, there was no apology or acknowledgment. I used to love attending services here, but now I find myself questioning the true intentions behind the messages being preached.
I still admire the work being done to support the community, especially through their food programs, but I cannot in good conscience recommend attending services while this kind of behavior goes unaddressed.
