1 /5 airyaires: We sat down on the reclining chairs and had been chatting for about two minutes when an associate came over and told us we needed to get up because “people will ask for a discount on the chairs.” That was incredibly rude and unnecessary. People sit on the chairs at Marshalls all the time, and we weren’t being rough with them—we were just sitting and talking.
What made it worse was the inconsistency: the associate ignored someone right in front of us who was also sitting on a chair (with a drink and snacks). If this is a policy, it should be communicated respectfully and applied evenly. Overall, the interaction felt unprofessional. Do better.
