5 /5 Amanda P: This is my favorite consignment store both for buying AND selling in town! And my favorite Platos of anywhere Ive lived. I think people leaving bad reviews have an unrealistic expectation on what used clothing is actually worth, and what kinds of things sell. They usually take about 1/3 to half of what I bring in, and I am thrilled to clean out some closet space and make some cash. I usually bring athletic brands, mall brands, etc and I always leave feeling like we made a good deal. They always have the trendy stuff in stock, but also they carry nice basics and great brands. Their jewelry selection and fragrance section are bomb. You can dress in head to toe Lulu and Alo shopping here for like 20% of the cost of new. It is rare that I pick up something I like and think dang, this should be priced lower. The staff is lovely and always gives off fun vibes. I go in pretty often (I love to shop, and I almost always have a bag to drop off) and everyones always smiling and friendly when I come in and its clear that the ladies in there enjoy their jobs. Ive always been treated kindly and courteously in there even when I was probably annoying everyone with a pretty late drop off here or there.

1 /5 Steve Bruner: I called today to find out how they accepted clothing. I was told it has to be in a tub or a container/box neatly folded. When I got there and opened the door I was not greeted at all I did not know how to process work and the girl behind the counter told me to put my clothes on the floor and sign those two papers so I commenced into filling the one paper out and then had to put my name on the other paper. She did not tell me how the process worked at all whatsoever. I shopped and found a shirt went to the front counter there was three girls up there the one girl was to take in and the other two girls were hanging clothes on a rod nobody spoke to me no one said Ill be with you in a moment stood at the register for approximately 2 minutes without anybody even say anything finally someone said cash or charge and I said charge. So after she rang me up and I paid for my shirt I stated to her that I had just brought some clothes in would it take a couple days before I hear from them. She said no youll hear from us today I said okay thank you and I walked out. About 30 minutes later they called and said that my clothing was ready. I went back in to get the clothing that they didnt take I was not expecting any clothing that I wouldnt take I took all high-end in style clothing three buckle t-shirts a pair of buckle jeans a pair of Levi jeans some other button-up shirts. Mind you in style three of them was brand new never been worn to have the tags on them. They chose two generic t-shirts and told me the rest of them they wouldnt going to take. I inquired and said why wont you take the other stuff I was shopping and saw that style and those brands in here and she said because they dont sell. She was very rude and even told me I was rude. After I left the more I thought about it that more aggravated I got so I called and the lady answered the phone and I said this is Steve am I the one that just spoke with you at the store and she said yes and I said let me enlighten you on who I am. I said my name is Steve Bruner I used to own main Street consignment over in Callaway I had the consignment shop for for 20 years until hurricane Michael destroyed the whole plaza. I told her I knew exactly what sales and I know what does not sell and I said I took you very nice clothing three of the t-shirts were brand new buckle shirts that I bought 6 months ago and maybe wore twice another one pair of jeans was a brand new pair of buckle jeans Id only wore once nothing wrong with them at all turn those down. She commenced him to telling me that their store was geared more toward young people and I said maam a lot of those clothes in that stack came from buckle at Pier Park who do you think shops at buckle. So I let her know real quick that I must be too old to shop at their store and I would not be back customer service stinks there and theyre rude. I will never go back in that store again.

1 /5 Clay Pickelsimer: Worst Plato’s Closet i’ve ever been to, I’d rate it zero stars if Google would let me. We brought in 2 boxes of clothes and a box of shoes; almost half of the clothes were brand new and still had tags on them and never been worn; similar to other items i’ve dropped off before at Plato’s Closet locations in Destin and Ohio. after we brought our items and dropped them off, we were told they would look at them and then give us a call back and let us know what they would accept. after 2 hours of waiting, they called us and informed us that ALL of our clothes and shoes “smell like cat pee” and would not accept them. Here’s the crazy part—WE DO NOT EVEN OWN CATS. plus, every single item was washed and dried immediately prior to bringing them in store (minus the brand new items with tags, of course) but they smelled of cat pee? Impossible. When we came to pick up our items, all of our boxes were still in the same exact place we dropped them off at and nothing had even been looked through. Plato’s training videos must have been like: “Don’t feel like looking through clothes and doing your job today? That’s fine—say it smells like cat pee!!!” Seriously though, don’t go here. if you’re buying clothes, you’ll have 3x the selection and comparable prices at Ross or TJ Maxx.

2 /5 Nolia Mitchell: When we arrived at plato’s today, we were looking to drop off some clothes and shoes. It took them an hour and a half to sort through 7 items because they did the people that put their clothes down after us first (and it was a huge bin), and then completely lowballed us for unworn items. An hour before they were done, we saw the items that they ended up taking laying on the table and they were so busy talking that they didn’t notice the clothes were ours. Employee was rude as well.
