Anthony Evans Having gone to both this college as well as USF, I can tell you this is a HUGE college in comparison. There is a LOT more going on, the campus is twice the size (although it seems much larger than that due to everything on campus and how widespread it all is), and overall, I miss it. But, due to family reasons, I ended up here at USF at this point. Theyre nice, but not nearly as good for my particular focus in physics unfortunately.
If you are interested in physics in particular, USF is better for materials physics, particularly solid-state and condensed matter physics. UF is better for just about everything else.

Samaril Vellavoor I worked hard to earn my AA degree at Palm Beach State College — taking AICE classes, dual enrollment, and following the transfer path laid out by the state. But when I applied to UF’s Digital Worlds Institute, I was shut out. Their portfolio requirements are completely unrealistic for students coming from public schools and state colleges. I wasn’t given a chance to take their “preferred” courses because the AA track leaves no room — and worse, they don’t even accept traditional art in the portfolio. That’s all many of us have access to!
When I spoke with Justin Marlin, I was met with zero empathy. He was dismissive, unhelpful, and made it clear I didn’t belong. This isn’t how a public university should treat Florida students who’ve done everything right. I was forced to attend UCF instead — where I was welcomed and respected. UF and DWI need to seriously rethink how they treat transfer students from less privileged backgrounds.
