1 /5 Matthew simons: My family and I have been in the car for more or less two days, traveling from Lexington, Kentucky. We ate brunch at a bagel shop around the corner, and my kids (6 and 3) were a little wiggly, so we walked around the corner to find this cute-looking shop open. My husband and kids went in first, and the kids did a great job looking (and not touching) the beautiful artistic items and clothing.
My youngest kiddo decided he would rather keep running outside than have to be careful in a shop, so my husband took the kids outside to play. My mom and I remained in the shop, perusing the items and cards. The instant my kids and husband left, the three women who seemed to be running the shop started talking about my kids - judging their short-sleeved shirts (on a cold-for-Florida-but-warm-for-lots-of-other-places day) and talking about how disgusting their coughs were.
I intervened and let them know we were on a road trip, mostly in the car, and it actually felt warm for us. I wish I had remarked at how rude it was that they began speaking about their customers immediately after they left (and especially without paying attention that all 5 of us had obviously been together). Incredibly rude and snooty women. There were some beautiful handmade items in there, but I would not recommend these rude and catty women and their unkind, unprofessional “customer service.”
