1 /5 Andrew Heil: Overall, I am highly dissatisfied with the service I received from Morgan and Morgan. First, was the amount of time it took to arrive at a settlement of over 2 years, I found unreasonable. Its been a continued challenge to get anyone on the phone and I dont like leaving messages. They wanted me to originally settle my medical debt for substantially more than what would have been fair in my opinion based on various factors. I had to fight with continued communications and emails to my medical providers to reduce the debt to a more reasonable level based on the situational charges including $1,000 just for a discussion about injections which could have been easily rejected over the phone as an example. Im disappointed that we were asking for $50,000 and settled all the way down to $22,500. After all costs and fees that gave me less than half of the settlement amount and I am permanently affected for the rest of my life with the injuries. Another thing I didnt care for was a $200 delayed cost deposit from my settlement. The contract specified 90 days and I received it towards the end of April. Jessica was my paralegal at the time and told me that I would be contacted prior to them sending it out. Apparently, the paralegal changed without my knowledge by someone named Melissa. I still should have been contacted as agreed upon ahead of time, it should have been directly after the 90 days not any additional delay, and I was expecting the full $200 and received less than that without any explanation of charges and deductions. Ultimately, I received less than I would have liked for the settlement, the fees were still high in my opinion as it is, and adding further costs from the deposit they withheld decreased my satisfaction further. The factor of time isnt something that is easily controlled, but a case dragging out is a negative. Communication is key and having continued difficulty to talk to relevant parties on the case made things more difficult to me than they needed to be. There were risks of going to trial which would have resulted in higher costs for the case, witnesses, and fees, so even if I was awarded a higher amount the risk was I could have ended up with less than the $22,500. It was an unfavorable situation from my perspective either way, then charging another $43.09 from my deposit after 90 days increased my dissatisfaction further. Im not happy with the fees charged including from the deposit. My stepfather told me that he got more for his case, his case was more minor in comparison, and didnt even have to go as far into the process as me and got his full $200 deposit back. The outcome of everything depends on the case itself, who you work with, how easy they are to reach, amount awarded, fees, and bottom line payout. There was a lot that could have gone better with the case from those factors. I cant honestly recommend Morgan and Morgan based on my experience.
