5 /5 Ira Fischler: Roman Janos has been our financial advisor/planner since 2008, when I retired from my university position and wanted to consolidate several "pockets" of tax-deferred savings into one IRA. From the start, we were impressed with Romans expertise, clarity, and sound thinking. Based on those early interactions, along with what we learned (both from him and from our own research) about Northwestern Mutual, we decided that our future needs would likely be met by Roman and NWM.
In the years that followed, weve added an inheritance-based "advisory account;" initiated long-term care policies for myself and my wife; converted a portion of the IRA to a fixed annuity (with a heritable 20-year guarantee); and as part of estate planning created a joint-life insurance policy. We obviously take great stock in his advice! We have regular meetings with Roman (more than required by the advisory account), and have appreciated the annual review and prospectus that he generates.
Were lucky too, I think, to have found a planner who is very client-oriented, and earnest about making sure he understands what the client is asking, and that they understand what hes saying. Both Roman and his assistant (Gouri Kumar) are a delight to work with, and out interactions have been uniformly pleasant and informative.
Roman is also very willing to discuss various questions we have had over the years not directly related to our own current or potential NWM products; I recently met with him to brainstorm strategies for a mortgage buy-out for one of our children. Bottom line - highly recommended! (In fact, I recently connected him with a friend who had also retired from the university, and who was impressed by my confidence in Roman and NWM.)
