3 /5 Erma Despierre: My sister and I decided to check out Eataly, since it’s been extremely popular and constantly packed. When we arrived, we put our name in and requested outdoor seating. We were told we’d receive a text once our table was ready.
After receiving the text, we went to the counter as instructed, but ended up waiting there for over 10 minutes without being acknowledged. When someone finally assisted us, we were brought to our table—only to wait another 10 minutes before a server came over. What made this frustrating was that several servers were nearby, seemingly in a meeting, yet no one communicated with us. Even a simple “we’ll be right with you” would have made a big difference.
Once we were finally able to order, the food itself was good.
Food
We started with Cotto Toscano and Focaccia Bianca with extra virgin olive oil. The prosciutto and bread were very good—fresh, flavorful, and enjoyable.
For my main dish, I ordered the Spaghetti al Pesto, Gamberi e Lime (squid ink spaghetti with basil pesto and shrimp). It was well-cooked, flavorful, and definitely a highlight of the meal.
Overall Thoughts
The food delivered, but the service and wait time took away from the overall experience. Given how busy and hyped Eataly is, better communication and attentiveness are needed to make the experience feel worth the wait.
Rating: 6/10
Good food, but service improvements would go a long way.
