5 /5 Boris Begun: We had a pleasant experience at Ocean Prime. We discovered it by way of Chase Edit. We were sat promptly at our reservation time. Service was good but lag time between apps and mains was enough that we all noticed it.
Cocktails were good, and had several nonalcoholic options. I really enjoyed my mocktail. For starters we got the calamari which was fantastic - one of the best I’ve ever had.
Sides are à la carte family style - all three were tasty. We went for jalapeño au gratin, truffle mac, and chili broccoli. Each of us loved at least one side, and all were good.
The sushi and nigiri were good. Not at the same level as a proper omakase spot, but for a fusion restaurant it was top tier. Steak and lobster were cooked perfectly. Lobster had a ton of flavor, but could have gotten away with less turmeric. The butter for the lobster came over a food candle to keep it liquid. Asparagus was not mushy or overcooked but rather had a satisfying crunch. Steak was soft and flavorful, appropriately salted, and melted in the mouth.
Overall I enjoyed my experience. I would return to try other things.
