1 /5 Rebecca Hill: I have been waiting to hear back from the VA about my complaint about this provider to leave a review, but I havent heard back yet and it has been a while, so here it is: On December 9th, 2024 I went to Bradenton Family and Implant Dentistry. Dr. Ackley completed 3 fillings on the bottom right side of my mouth. She did not file the fillings down and the teeth on the left side of my mouth no longer touched after the completion of this service. Additionally, after the numbing wore off I was in pain. I waited a few days for the pain to subside just in case it was due to soreness from the procedure. The pain did not go away, and in fact it got significantly worse. By the time I realized it was much worse and was not going to get better, it was the weekend and I was out of state. My husband called the clinic and left a voicemail explaining my situation and asking for them to call us back as soon as possible. They never did call back. I had to schedule an emergency appointment with another dentist. He filed down the massive occlusion Dr. Ackley left in my mouth. He also did an evaluation on the teeth Dr. Ackley filled and surmised that I needed to be seen by an endodontist who could determine if I needed a root canal as a result of Dr. Ackley inserting fillings too deep in my teeth, to the point of touching my nerves. I saw an
endodontist the next day (its December 17th at this point). The endodontist determined that I needed at least one root canal and potentially one more. We completed the one root canal the next day. Obviously, after my root canal I needed to have a crown placed. So far, as a result of Dr. Andrea Ackleys negligence, I have paid $3,403 out of my own pocket and am waiting to hear back from the VA if they are going to help me with that since it was emergency care needed as a result of botched service provided by a dentist they sent me to. My emergency eval from the second dentist was $95. My root canal evaluation was $395. My root canal itself was $1600. My crown was $1313. One of the teeth Dr. Ackley filled still hurts and I am waiting to see if the pain goes away or if I have to give in and get a second root canal. So, its currently up in the air as to wether I must pay another $3000ish for another root canal as a result of Dr. Ackleys negligence.
I believe it is also worth mentioning that I noticed Dr. Ackley had a stamp peeking out of her glove while she was doing my service. The kind of stamp you get at a bar. This makes me wonder if Dr. Ackley was hungover when she did my service leading to botched work.
My experience with Bradenton Family and Implant Dentistry led to excruciating pain and financial hardship resulting from Dr. Ackleys negligence and poor performance.
