1 /5 Irealle Smith: I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Halifax Health Express Care. During my visit, my confidential health information was carelessly disclosed in a public space, violating my privacy rights. The healthcare provider loudly shared my test results in the lobby, where others, including the receptionist and patients, could overhear everything. This is a clear violation of both HIPAA and Florida state privacy laws.
Despite raising these concerns and giving the facility ample time to address the issue, Halifax Health Express Care chose to downplay the severity of the situation. They denied any violations occurred and claimed that the disclosure was "incidental," which is not only inaccurate but also an attempt to avoid accountability.
Additionally, I was alarmed to learn that my test results were shared in legal correspondence, which raises further concerns about their handling of sensitive patient information. I had no control or authorization over how my personal health information was used, and it seems there are serious gaps in their privacy practices.
I expected professionalism and respect for my privacy, but instead, I was left feeling humiliated and disregarded. I hope they take this feedback seriously and improve their privacy protocols to prevent future incidents. Until then, I cannot recommend this facility to others.
