Halifax Historical Museum - Daytona Beach (FL)

5 /5 Gina Edmunds: Glad to have finally visited, it was worth a look! Really nice collection covering the area from native tribes to racing on the beach. The staff here was absolutely lovely as well, offering some great insight into the collection, some of the history of nearby Daytona buildings, as well as some great suggestions on other parks and places to visit in Central Florida. The building is also an old bank, so the stained glass windows and old bank vault doors are worth a look as well!

4 /5 Madelyn: Staff were super nice and very informative. It was $10 entry, but I do feel like their selection was small. We saw their fashion exhibit and it was interesting but they’re still working on finishing it. Still had fun.

5 /5 Deb Burk: Visiting Daytona after having moved from Ormond Beach many years ago, the Halifax Historical Museum was a great surprise, and meeting Fayne, an honor. Training her assistant, Heather Files to know all of the permanent presentations and to be a docent, how to approach people as they entered the museum and take them on a tour. I am moving back to Volusia county and will make the museum one of my first visits!

5 /5 Destiny: I had no idea Daytona history was so interesting! I left with many fun facts and stories to share with my husband. There are some fascinating people highlighted in the museum including the first female mayor (who was also a doctor), the man behind the phrase “the real McCoy,” a millionaire with a house that took up an entire city block, and, perhaps best of all, Brownie the dog. The volunteer at the front desk was so great answering my questions and sharing his knowledge in grandfather clocks and how music was played before electricity. Every town needs a museum like this! Oh, and the building that houses the collection is gorgeous and historic too.

5 /5 Rai B: Variety of different things to look at, there’s something there for everyone. The building is beautiful and full of history in itself. We went on a day when nobody else was there, the woman who showed us in was very knowledgeable and friendly, and had a heart for what she did. There’s a small gift shop area with antiques, ranging from paintings, dishes, and figurines, to small trinkets, books, and vintage postcards from all over, which in my opinion is a really cool and unique souvenir. Take at least an hour to an hour and a half to look around. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for something inexpensive and interesting.
