  • May-Stringer House - Brooksville Pam Sulak: Tours are on the hour. We arrived after 11:30 so we came back at 12:30. Interesting history of the house. Some items originally to the house, but many have been donated but are of the period. 3 very cool doll house in the attic. Well worth the $10 per person.
Chinsegut Wildlife Trail - Brooksville Jeremy Gilpin: The trails are well marked and you will be pleasantly surprised by some nice elevation gains on this hike.
North Brooksville Diamond Railroad Crossing -
1885 Brooksville Train Depot - Brooksville Krystee VDB: Public washrooms available; plumbing is older Nice art, close to other parks and main sights
Tom Varn Park - Brooksville John Blum: Love the park! Has a great playground and relaxing walking trails. I have a 3 year old son that I have been bringing to the new Splash park weekly since it opened. Love it! Except for you thing. My son and a few others in the span of a day kept slipping and smacking there heads on the ground when they walked across this mosaic tile that is Super slippery. I understand its to represent those who possibly sponsored the project. But Im asking for it to be removed or something. Please comment if you have had this experience to help prevent any further injury our children. Thank you, Concerned Dad.
Withlacoochee State Forest - Brooksville Tally Tech and Troubleshooting- KQ4KIO: Did a 8 mile hike there for two purposes. I am a wildlife photographer and wife getting ready for the AT. Mostly overcast and a good amount of trees for the added “reprieve “ from our Florida sun. All in all, a nice hike and was able to photograph the “elusive” Sherman’s Fox Squirrel. Some trail maintenance looks to be needed, however not too terribly bad. Definitely recommended…
Croom Mystery Spot - Brooksville Rebecca: Took our UTV here! Was quite the journey but we found it!!
State of Florida Civilian Conservation Corps Museum at Highlands Hammock State Park - Sebring DrGpro: Exponentially increased my awareness and appreciation for the hard work of all those responsible for the State Parks we are privileged to enjoy
Harder Hall - Sebring Lynn Hicks: I absolutely love this place but it looks like its just sitting there just wasting away if I owned it I would love to make an assistant loveing for the elderly its so beautiful and lots of room
Highlands Hammock State Park - Sebring Violet Victoria: This was a lovely park. Went on a Tuesday so there werent many people there. You can see how the weekends would be super busy though. They have tram rides and bike rentals, camping areas, playgrounds, bike paths and walking paths. The walking trails are very well marked, clear and easy to navigate. No worries of getting lost or even off the path. The trails are all relatively short and mostly shaded. We did the entire park within a few hours. That being said, the place was beautiful. There were so many old trees and even an old growth forest area. The trees were so big and gorgeous. There was a Cyprus swamp area that felt other worldly. The one disappointment was that the catwalk was closed so our trek through the Cyprus swamp was on the main boardwalk only. We did see a lot of animals including 3 alligators, a bobcat, and lots of interesting birds. Right outside of the park we saw turkeys, cows, and some wild hogs. Its a nice place for easy peaceful walks, with restrooms, benches, and even a small shop.
