Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve North - Fort Myers G M: We visited 1/15/25 and what a waste of our day. It was difficult to get to but we hoped worth it from other reviews. It was not. Maybe this should just be a place for horse riders and not walkers. There is no signage at the road to confirm this is the preserve and not someone’s farm land. The trail map was removed and trails were unmarked except for a few metal posts with red tape along a mowing track. We started walking through a gap in the fence and along what looked like fresh bush mowed “trail” along the fence next to the road. The path was a little grass but mostly trunks of the cut-off sapling trees which was unstable/difficult to walk on. We came across a small dead tortoise near the fence line that had gotten cut in several places by the mower blade. Not great at all. We walked under the power lines to connect with what appeared to be an another part of the preserve and the “trail” turned into overturned and uneven dirt making walking much more difficult and unpleasant. I was very worried we would see even more dead tortoises in the plowed under road but thankfully not. The “trail” just seemed to follow the fence line taking you next to people’s homes. It started to get dark and we ended up pulling a map off the web to find a different way back through the woods. We finally found what seemed to be a different trail made by vehicles. Actually, that trail cut in for a bit then we realized it just followed the same boring path but maybe 20’ in so it didn’t save us any time following it back out near the beginning of the second preserve annex. Other than the poor tortoise, some giant snail shells, we saw no other animals in this preserve. Our shoes were so full of dirt and our shoes, socks and feet were blackened by dirt from the ridiculous plowed under path. If you are planning a walk, go elsewhere than this difficult to get to and unmaintained place.
Billy Creek Preserve and Filter Marsh - Fort Myers Darla Dume: Beautiful neighborhood park. Paved path with lots of people walking, biking and running. Outer loop was about a mile. Parking was fine on a Sunday afternoon.
Edison Bridge - _Manago _: One of the best bridges to take. Theres no tolls, and lands you right into Cape. Traffic for now isnt the worst on this bridge either as it has 3 lanes.
Murder Mystery Dinner Train - Fort Myers Sheila DeChantal: We went with friends for this experience. There were six of us and tables were for 4 so we sat across from our friends. We arrived early (recommended) and were seated with the cheese tray already on the table Food was very good... The Caesar salad had palm hearts and they were delicious! The service was great the mystery fun. Admittedly some on the accent they were using made some of the acting hard to understand but they were amazing in their roles. Things to know before you go: 1.The train is very rocky a lot of seating way more than I anticipated. Our one friend got a little motion sick. 2. Plan on 4 hours train time between boarding and arrival back. We boarded at 5:45 and were back about 9:45 3. The train was hot the first half of the ride. Then they opened some ceiling vents and it was much better 4. Check in at the gift shop counter even if you buy your tickets on line. We didnt know to do that but you need this information to know which part of the train to board. Its pricey. For my husband and I it was 277.00, drinks on top of that. The portions were big, the staff amazing, actors fun.
Florida Repertory theater - Fort Myers
Calusa Blueway - Fort Myers Skip Howell: A great concept. 200+ miles of water trails.
Crooked Garden - Fort Myers I Smell like a Pickel: Very pleasant, small but beautiful.
Trailhead Neighborhood Park - Fort Myers Andrea Morgia: Small parking area. Small playground for young children. Theres a sidewalk around the playground. Restrooms available. A few picnic tables. The trail is a paved straight walkway east and west. Going West is about half mile. Theres one pier overlooking water/swamp area. Quite a bit of trash floating that needs to be cleaned up. Couple homeless ppl lingering around. A handful of teenage boys hanging out, mostly behaving. There was joggers, dogwalkers, bicyclist, scooters, fishermen using the paved walkway.
Seminole Gulf Railway - Fort Myers Cody Hughes: I’m sure you seen the video circulating with your officer assaulting that guy. How can you all employ, and allow your officer to target and treat people like that. Trespassing somewhere to fish may be wrong but absolutely didn’t warrant his property to be destroyed or him to be assaulted. This was gross abuse of power and there is no telling how many times that officer has gotten away with it before. Thank god that interaction was on camera and I hope those two 18 year old kids get the justice they deserve.
Prairie Pines Preserve - North Fort Myers Mauricio Morro: One of the largest walkable preserves in the region. Long loop is not for everyone, almost 15 miles long (nice shortcut trails allow you to shorten the distance as needed), trails are clearly marked and in great shape. Rainy season is almost here so it would become greener and muddier. I would add some signs to point at the 2 railroad lines that are now the boundaries of the preserve
