4 /5 Sarah Anne: This park has a lot of variety. Plenty of ways to spend an afternoon. Some things are a bit dated, without compromising the usefulness or enjoyment from those pieces of equipment. Bathrooms arent amazing, but to be expected from an outdoor recreational area not constantly maintained. All in all the kids( and myself) had a great time here. Lots of room to roam. If other families are enjoying the afternoon you can easily spread out and have enough space to share.

5 /5 Ken Tomlin: Large park with baseball fields, and accommodation for other sports. Guided tours of the pilgrims, beautiful. Nice walking paths, bicycle as well. Plenty of benches. Kids amusement, entertainment everywhere for kids, absolutely a kids dream.

2 /5 Donna Hoxworth: It would be nice if the dog park was fenced in. Just moving here and found out there was a dog park. Got so excited that I loaded the fur babies up looking for some fun for them and let them run around. But what can one expect since there is nothing here anyway.

Punta Gorda Nature Park - Punta Gorda Shell T: We went here a few years ago and it was absolutely beautiful. This time was a different experience. The plants are still pretty that are located near the parking areas. However not only are most of the trails flooded and not pretty, the area is unsafe.. especially if you have a dog or child. Not only did we encounter many flooded areas with very smelly water, we encountered rusty nails, bridges with gaps big enough for a small dogs feet to fall through (look like poor repairs), bridges that can cause someone to trip, part of the trail borders scattered all over the place, tree limbs hanging down about to fall on trail, and more! I think hurricane Ian over a year ago probably hit it hard. However the clean up on the trails has been very slow. I think they should close the trails until they can make them safer. The gardens by the parking lots are beautiful and well kept as well as the picnic areas. Also be aware there are no bathrooms. I took many pics. Its sad to see this once beautiful place in this shape. The one star is because there were poinsettia plants and berries scattered around a dog friendly park, there were rusty nails on the trail, and my dog almost hurt herself badly on the bridge with the gaps. So they one store was for safety reasons. Also the flood waters made mosquitoes HORRIBLE even at 4pm. I will change my review when safety things are addressed.

Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center - Punta Gorda Eva RPuite: Big your bug spray..... to throw because applying didnt seem to stop them at all! Didnt see much, maybe because we were there early..who knows, but it was beautiful at the little gazebo.

Gilchrist Park - Punta Gorda Darla Dume: Beautiful little park to walk in. There’s still some damage from the hurricane to check out. Had a lovely walk by the water and around downtown Punta Gorda. We went on a Saturday afternoon and there was plenty of parking.

It was here that we captured some of our most memorable photographs, each frame a testament to the beauty and diversity of the birdlife that calls the preserve home. Of course, no visit to the Charlotte Harbor Preserve would be complete without encountering its most iconic residents—the alligators. From the imposing presence of the massive snapping turtle to the youthful exuberance of the young gator adorned with vibrant yellow stripes, these ancient reptiles served as a reminder of the delicate balance of life within the preserve. Overall, our adventure at the Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center was nothing short of extraordinary. It was a journey of discovery and wonder, a chance to connect with nature in its purest form. Whether youre a seasoned naturalist or a curious traveler looking to experience the beauty of Floridas wilderness, this hidden gem is sure to leave a lasting impression. Ponce De Leon Park - Punta Gorda Jacqueline Phillips: Great spot to watch the sunset! Beachy area to hang out, and also little small areas to hunt for shells and play in the water. There are also areas specific for fishing and a boat launch. It also has a nice playground for the smaller kids and an animal rescue place. Didnt visit the animal rescue yet, but it looked interesting.

A.C. Freeman House - Punta Gorda Ina Griffin: Although I missed the open hours I plan to return. A fantastic trip back in time to the Victorian Era in Florida. A must see for romantics!!!

Blanchard House Museum - Punta Gorda Veronica Voncile: This is an Awesome museum to visit. Take your family and especially young ones. The historian is wonderful and is passionate about black history. We expected to walk in, through and out. But ended up staying over an hour it was so interesting and educational.

Peace River Botanical & Sculpture Gardens - Punta Gorda Deer Raar: We loved it! They had a Zimbabwe sculpture exhibition when we went, and there were a lot of sculptures for sale in the tent. The mangroves were gorgeous, and the plant life was stunning. The gift/snack shop was a welcome relief from the heat, and they offered some good frozen snacks. They even had ice cream for dogs! My favorite part was the gazebo that extended into the Peace River. Great view! The only thing Id change would be to add some shade on the walk to the riverside of the place. The parking was up by the welcome booth, sculptures, and butterfly house, but you have to go down past the entrance and across the street the see most of the plants. We didnt mind. It was just hot. And we went in March. Other than that, we loooved it! Would absolutely recommend.
