1 /5 Al Sep: Absolutely horrible $500 experience with this company. I would not recommend them to change a spark plug. Regretfully, just a week before leaving for an expensive booked vacation with the family, my check engine like came on. Connecting my ODBII meter told me I had fault code P0332 (Knock Sensor, Bank 2). After researching the process to diagnose to repair I thought it best to hire a pro for this project. I hired Side Jobs after calling and speaking to Raymond to diagnose and repair the issue. He sent a repair technician that spent two hours working the issue and when complete informed me “to the best of my ability I believe I found the issue and it’s resolved”. Then handed me a $495+ invoice to pay. Concerned about the words “to the best of my ability” I asked him what the issue was, what parts did he have to replace, etc. He noted he cleaned the MAF only and did not replace any parts. This concerned me whereas it did not appear he had actually performed a complete set of diagnostics that are described when you research the process to ID issues with fault code P0332 so the logical next question from myself after spending $495 was what will Side Jobs do if the issue is not corrected and the same fault code trips? He told me he would return to further diagnose the issue whereas “Side Jobs stands behind their work”. The next morning I was leaving with two other families and their rigs to an RV resort we booked months earlier on vacation. I didn’t get three miles before the check engine light came back on and the whole caravan had to turn around and followed me home so I could check the issue. Yup, the same P0332 code!!! I had to cancel my reservation at the resort which cost me a 50% cancellation cost of $500. So now I’m out of near $1000 with nothing to show from it. I contacted Raymond to inform him about the dilemma and you can read the exact conversation below. I hired another recommended mobile mechanic to do the same as I hired Side Jobs for (Bill’s Mobile out of Floral City). Bill did perform a complete set of diagnostics and informed me the reason the code was being tripped was due to the fact my 6 year old battery was only putting out have the amperage it should be and requires replacement, which we did. I have since put near 400 miles and the problem was resolved. The cost from Bill’s Mobile…. $145!!!! Needless to say I strongly recommend hiring Bill’s Mobile for your remote mechanical repairs and avoid Side Jobs like you would the plague! Side Jobs is absolutely pathetic and clearly a rip off!!
