3 /5 Donna Brown: Although this is a beautiful church and I had belonged to it for many years, I was recently very disappointed. My mother recently passed away. She was a parishioner since 1977. She and my father were ushers for 20 years at the 4:30 Mass. When my sister and I requested a priest for the last rites at Vitas hospice in Delray Beach we were sternly told that it was too far for one of their priests to travel. Since she was 94, and not well, she had been attending Mass at the skilled nursing facility where she lived and not St. Joan of Arc. So, when she was buried at the Mausoleum, practically across the street from St. Joan of Arc, we didn’t bother asking for a priest since we got the impression that they didn’t want to help. We had the funeral home arrange for a priest who came all the way from Fort Lauderdale. He was so nice and caring. He even called us the next day to see how we were doing. It worked out for the better.
