1 /5 JC Ortega Izquierdo: I am writing to express my concerns regarding the police presence outside the church early in the morning, around 5:30 AM. Recently, officers stationed there have been engaging with neighbors who are out walking their pets. I understand from the officers that they are responding to concerns from the church’s pastor, who has requested their assistance in discouraging pet owners from allowing their pets to relieve themselves on church property, which is private (reemphasized several times). I completely respect the need to maintain the property and am always careful to clean up after my dog. Are we getting rid of the feral cats on the property as well?
This incident represented an inefficient use of the police department’s resources and time, diverting valuable assets from essential responsibilities. Proper resource allocation is crucial for maintaining effective public safety, and mismanagement in this area can impact response capabilities and overall operational efficiency. Additionally, this was a pathetic attempt to utilize the police department as intimidation; in this United States of America, we do not do that.
By way of background, I am a military veteran with over 12 years of service, during which I’ve served overseas in defense of the freedom to worship - in places where followers of Chris are thrown off of the roof of their church for loving our Lord and Saviour - this freedom is a privilege that many, hold dear & others take for granted in the U.S.
While I am not questioning the church’s right to manage its property, nor I lay claim to any privilege, a direct conversation, rather than police involvement, could have been a more effective way to address this concern, ensuring a respectful and positive dialogue within our neighborhood.
