1 /5 William Spencer: I think this is the first time Ive left a negative review for any place. My experience here has been awful.
If you call to schedule an appointment with any kind of doctor, typically youre asked for your insurance information before an appointment is scheduled. That insurance information is usually verified over the phone and then its all about getting an appointment and getting help. Unfortunately, that is not the experience you might receive at The Gentle Dentist.
I called because I have a broken tooth and am in a lot of pain. I need a root canal. My insurance was accepted over the phone. It was also accepted on my first visit, the exam. When I arrived for my appointment the following week, I was told that my insurance information mysteriously disappeared from their system and that they needed my information again. No problem. They even sent me back to start the procedure, almost an hour after my scheduled appointment, where I also was injected with local anesthetics. Then, someone from the front desk came in and said that my insurance no longer works and that I was giving them "the wrong card," which was accepted twice before. I have dental insurance. They informed me that the procedure, which had begun, was going to now cost me $1,600. I had to leave, numb for no reason, with a broken tooth I desperately need help with.
Its one thing if you call somewhere and they inform you that they cant accept your insurance. Thats fair- this allows you to look for another place that does, so you can get HELP. Unfortunately, I decided to try The Gentle Dentist first and have been strung along for almost two weeks now with the only recourse being to start again with another dentist office, that hopefully accepts my insurance longer than one week. The dentist from this office even called me the next day and left a voicemail on my phone stating that he believes this was "an office mistake" and offered to do my root canal anyways and cover it, whether it was covered or not. I thought that was a really kind gesture, and in order to skip having to go through another exam and wait another couple of weeks to get help with my broken tooth, I called them back in regards to the voicemail. The lady that answered didnt seem to believe me and informed me again that my insurance there does not work. She stated that she would check with their "insurance person" and call back if my insurance covers the procedure. My phone has been silent. I dont know why, but they even seek to string me along further. Its so weird that theyd do this. At this point, its very unprofessional and even antagonistic.
If youre in pain, or otherwise need help now, do yourself a favor and try some other places first. I wish I had.
