1 /5 Myrka Altidor: To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to formally express my disappointment and concern regarding an incident that occurred during my recent visit to the Burlington location that I regularly shop at.
While my boyfriend and I were browsing for candles, a store associate who was not someone I have seen working there previously stood in the aisle with us. My boyfriend politely asked if a specific candle scent was available. The associate responded dismissively, stating that what was on the shelf was what was available. We thanked her and continued shopping.
Shortly afterward, my boyfriend and I selected two candles and proceeded to another aisle. At that point, loss prevention approached us and asked if we had placed a candle inside a hood or pocket. We immediately showed that we had nothing hidden. The loss prevention officer was professional, kind, and apologized after confirming that we had not taken anything.
Unfortunately, the situation did not end there. Loss prevention returned again and explained that the associate had accused us of placing merchandise in our sleeves something that is physically impossible and absolutely did not occur. Once again, we were cleared, and the officer apologized and told us to enjoy our shopping.
Although the loss prevention staff handled the situation respectfully, the false accusation itself was humiliating and deeply upsetting. This experience completely ruined what should have been a normal shopping trip. This store has been my regular shopping location, a place I usually enjoy visiting, but after this incident, I no longer feel comfortable returning.
I hope this matter is taken seriously and addressed appropriately, as no customer should be treated this way without evidence.
