Dade City Parks - Dade City Pat Bessken: Pretty. Has a few picnic tables. Some shade. Tap water available. Has trash bins that are regularly picked up. Also, seasonally has a market place for fresh vegetables once a month (see sign). Has one designated parking spot for Disabled Permit only. All animals must be under restraint (city Ord. No. 553).
Withlacoochee River Park - Dade City Gator Tom: In Florida it is rare for a park to exceed the mundane. Right out of the 2nd parking lot is a view of the river on a canoe launch dock. Going to the furthestmost primitive campaign was pretty smooth and well marked. Floridas deadliest snake, coral, in the first mile! Bring a blanket for lunch at the campsite where there is a cleared area but zero amenities. Headed west from the campsite is only for the experienced hiker. Hurricane Milton left numerous huge trees down over the trail and havent been cleared. Got lost three times trying to get to the primitive campsite near the observation tower. In December 2024 the multiple trails in the middle of the park are completely underwater from record setting rains this year. You cannot make it to the boardwalk from the west or southern trails without wading in 1-2 foot water (we didnt even try). It would be helpful if someone put a sign somewhere near the parking lot that indicate this. Also note there are no park maps from the parking lot we left from, so try to find one in a guidebook, online or use the free Strava app (which is what saved us when we missed several turns at double marks on trees). There is a playground near one parking lot. Big pavilion for picnics too. Bathrooms only near the one parking lot, but the trail from the first parking lot goes near it. We hiked for six hours, covering about 8.5 miles. Lots of trees to protect you from the sun. Numerous ecosystems. The amount of animals you see during your day are impressive. Coral snake, wild boar (pack of 3), vultures, hawks, frogs, armadillos (2), fish & alligators. Signs along the nature trail are difficult to read and need updating. There are several buildings you come across during your hike. No mosquitos or ticks in December. Lack of cleaning downed trees and poorly maintained signage takes this from 5 to 4 stars.
John S. Burks Memorial Park - Dade City Jorge Soto: Cool little playground, lacking in facilities for the kids to go potty near the playground.
Dade City Dog Park - Dade City Expressive Pets: In the heart of this quaint township; famous for their kumquat festival and parade; sits a lovely playground and dog park. Price Park is a large recreation area, with tennis courts too. My pack had a blast. We stopped by every day, during our recent visit.
Historic Pasco County Offices - Dade City John Chufar: Dade City is decorated.
North Straub Park - St. Petersburg Naomi Sprung: Beautiful, tranquil and serene. Beautiful endless water that seem to stretch into infinity. Framed by boats and greenery and gorgeous trees. There are sculptures and a beautiful walkway and super close to beautiful, trendy and cool shops. We want to live here!!
The DalĂ Museum - St. Petersburg Frank Whitesell: We went for the Thursday evening hours when the museum is open later. We enjoyed the music in the atrium and walked the exhibits upstairs. I learned a lot about Surrealism in the overview video and then better understood what I was seeing in the galleries. I preferred Dalis work over the other artist on display who focused on surreal photography. I usually love photographic medium, but not David Raymond. Luckily it leaves next week. The VR Dali exhibit was the highlight.
Museum of Fine Arts - St. Petersburg N Criscio: Loved our visit! This was our first time touring the museum and it was a great find. We just happened to see the poster advertising the kimono exhibit while walking down the pier, and decided to go. Im glad we did! The kimonos were amazing and I learned so much about their design and meaning of some of the finer details. The rest of the museum was great to see too. I did not expect to see a Monet or Georgia OKeefe! This is a great place to pop in if youre downtown. I look forward to seeing future special exhibits.
St. Pete Pier - St. Petersburg Rai Vip “Rai like Rye bread”: Awesome place!! Parking ridiculously difficult to find even at 9 pm! Tram ride to the very end of the pier was efficient. Every 10 minutes or so. Visited all of it at night and then again during the day. Both times were terrific! Even celebrated a birthday dinner at midnight at Cassie’s. Claudia, the waitress, was simply wonderful!! Her pic is enclosed. She even did a solo birthday song. She is patient, kind, helpful and beautiful. The other restaurants at the very end of the pier, like Tiki, range from usual to rather expensive, price wise, but still worth visiting. Live music added to the ambience. Extravagant views all over. See pics.
