5 /5 Stanley Brown: Devil’s Millhopper State Park is a truly unique destination—where else can you descend into a prehistoric sinkhole in the middle of Florida? The 132-step wooden staircase takes you from the rim down to the lush, fern-covered bottom, and while the climb back up can be a bit of a workout, there are plenty of landings to rest and take in the view. The short trail circling the sinkhole adds a peaceful, scenic walk through the surrounding forest. My only disappointment was discovering they no longer carry staff medallions, which would’ve made a great keepsake. Still, it’s a memorable spot well worth the visit!
