What Clients Are Saying about Lakeland Highlands Scrub (on GG)
5 /5 Daniel Smith: I absolutely love the scrub. It has the best trails in the area.
5 /5 Melinda Clark: Love walking here with my dog. Having an unseen handicap and unable to tolerate the direct sunlight and heat of the day for long periods of time, the shaded trails are wonderful in allowing me to still get out and enjoy nature. This is one of my favorite trails in Polk County.
5 /5 Cassie: Beautiful secluded and well kept up trails. We got to see Gopher tortoises, a black racer, lizards, squirrels, and a Terrapin turtle! Very nice hike, we didnt do the full loop, we crossed over the middle trail and cut our hike in half.
4 /5 D Dave: Great place to walk in nature. The boardwalk has a gazebo so you can take a break in the shade. There are several covered picnic tables with grills and a chemical toilet.
5 /5 Blaze Picard: beautiful property amazing for walks.
Tenoroc Public Use Area - LakelandRashad Hasan: Great fishing spot, but no bank fishing allowed and visitors will be asked to present a Florida fishing license.. you’ll be limited to using the docks to fish but there’s plenty docks at the first lake near the entrance. You have to check in and check out …. A little bit too much hassle just to cast a line for a few hours… Bring live bait or worms no luck on lures for me … good news is that there’s tons of fish and variety… worms will be guaranteed to catch you something especially if you have younger children first timers…
Horney Park - LakelandCathy Duprey: I love the new ( to us ) park playground, it has a different theme then the others, wish it had water fountains though .. but next time well make sure to bring drinks, ( it was a spur of the moment Trip) also there is a lot of shade and beautiful tree that is low to the ground, if it wasnt about to rain we had thought about climbing it.
Westside Park - LakelandAngie Williams: The park is ckean and nice. No shade for the play ground thats an ouch for the kids. Wild cats were trying to get a baby bunny we saved. Get rid of the wild cats Lakeland.
Handley Park - LakelandL BL: Handley Park is a lovely spot!
Its never overcrowded, which is a huge plus. The playground equipment is in good condition, and there are plenty of swings for all ages.
I appreciate the open grassy area for kids to run around, and there are ample benches and even a couple of picnic tables.
The water fountains are a nice touch, and I found some shaded areas for those hot Florida days.
Overall, a very relaxing and enjoyable park for families.
Boathouse Riverfront Park - PalatkaAlexis Fouts: This spot will always be a special place for me and my children. We have spent many days together at the river and always have the best time. ❤️
Ravine Gardens State Park - PalatkaChristina M: So happy we got to come visit when the azaleas were blooming. We hiked the azalea trail, which is the more strenuous one. There were a lot of steps and the path was steep in some areas and very narrow. There are 2 suspension bridges. There are also easier walking paths and plenty of beautiful views.
Hank Bryan Park - PalatkaL Cardinal: This is a beautiful park. I love all the shade trees and the concrete walking path. There are numerous exercise equipment stations throughout the park. I also appreciate the fenced area with swings and climbing playground with slides. Children are so unpredictable and the fenced barrier is nice to keep them safe while at play.
Arcadia Mill - MiltonRyan Beverly: Nestled at the end of a neighborhood, sits an entrance to a boardwalk to one of Floridas oldest mill sites. As soon as you wal up to the entrance to the left is a covered area that has some remnants of said mill so you get an idea of what was there. From there you can take a boardwalk stroll that leads to some ground trails which are pretty neat. Cool little place to stroll if youre in the area or are a history buff. Really enjoyed the stroll
West Florida Railroad Museum - MiltonL D: We have a train enthusiast in the family and this train museum didnt disappoint. As the parent of this train enthusiast I didnt so much enjoy the trains but the lovely history preserved here. I also enjoyed the folks manning the stations- their greetings were warm, their train knowledge unmatched, and their passion palpable. If youre in the area- definitely recommend.
