5 /5 Patricia Middleton: The grounds and home are well maintained. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. There are only 5 tours on Thursday - Sunday so check out the date and time before you go. We went on a Tuesday and had to go back on Thursday for the tour of the inside of the house.

5 /5 Dani: There is a parking fee ($3.00) on the Honor-System at the gate and there are Donation boxes throughout the site. The home is kept almost to original with the belongings of Marjorie which her second husband gave to the property after she passed and once it was in the hands of the University. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and took questions as we went from room to room during the tour. Many books on the shelves are originals which visiting authors gave to her as gifts. The orange grove is grown over but there are two trails that meander through the landscape and provide for a shaded hike. Benches at different spots provide a place for a rest and reflection.

5 /5 Ross Ambrose: I’ve lived 45 minutes from this place for 20 years and am sorry I did not go sooner. If you have read any of her work go. A visit is a step back in time to understand her surroundings while she wrote and why she wrote. Definitely plan to go when one of the guided tours is available; the visit just won’t be as meaningful without the guided tour. I do t recommend bringing dogs. There are ducks and chickens free roaming the farm that will be a huge distraction.

We arrived in time for a guided tour through her house,and saw the actual typewriter Rawlings used to write the American classic"The Yearling" Beautiful farm home,most of the furniture was original. One of the highlights of our Gainesville/Micanopy mini vacation.

5 /5 Amelia Barrett: I did a school project on Mrs. Rawlings a while ago and read The Yearling. We were passing by and realized this place was on the way! The home and farm is gorgeous, true old Florida, teeming with plants and the sounds of nature. Be sure to look up touring hours of the home, it isnt open during "off hours" so you can only walk around the home and peek into the rooms. Well worth the visit, even if you dont know much about Mrs. Rawlings, learning about her is fascinating!

Jacksonville Zoo and Botanical Gardens - Jacksonville ever owen: We went in the morning and it wasn’t super packed, great experience getting to see all the animals. Very dry beautiful gardens. A few animals were not out, but most were! The staff was nice and helpful. Plenty of air conditioned rooms to stop at and bathrooms.

Tree Hill Nature Center - Jacksonville laura micalizzi: This place is wonderful! Me and my adult age daughter wanted to get some steps in and figured we’d give this place a shot. It was so peaceful and the landscape was beautiful. A Florida rainstorm had just moved through and dropped buckets of rain, so we didn’t venture through all the wooded paths, but we did do almost all of it. There’s goats and chickens and pigs and alligators and also an indoor space with some snakes and turtles. We enjoyed ourselves and will be back when it’s sunny. We are adults and didn’t do all the trails and we were there about 2 hours. If it was drier, we may have been there a little longer. Highly recommend!

MOSH (Museum Of Science & History) - Jacksonville Hannah Rodriguez: My toddler and elementary aged kiddos loved it here! The staff was friendly and while we didn’t play on it, the indoor playground (5 and under) looked very nice! Other than that area, though, it was all pretty run down at best and kinda janky in others. Either way, the kids couldn’t tell the difference and the older learned or brushed up on a lot of science! We took advantage of the EBT/WIC discount and got $3 entry for myself, free for one kid and then my toddler was free all the time.

Southbank Riverwalk - Jacksonville Inday Grasya: A beautiful place to walk, with amazing view. When we visit there last week we encountered the beautiful sightseeing of dolphins and they so gorgeous. They have also playground for the kids and fountain that give u refreshing feelings. Very clean as well.

Castaway Island Preserve - Jacksonville S D: Beautiful nature gateway. Pretty small trail but very peaceful. Great to come here on a New Year’s Day walk. Sadly did not see much wild life but there are many informative signs of the wild life animals that do live in the salty marsh environment. It was my first time observing this type of environment. There is a main Island trail and on the side there are some observance spots as well.

Jacksonville Arboretum & Botanical Gardens - Jacksonville Pilar Rodriguez: Such a peaceful and beautiful place! We visited the Jacksonville Arboretum & Botanical Gardens with our dog and we loved it. The trails are well-maintained and easy to follow, with gorgeous views and a mix of shaded and sunny areas. It felt safe and super relaxing. My pup was happy sniffing around and walking the trails (on leash, of course), and there were plenty of spots to stop, rest, and enjoy nature. It’s a perfect little escape from the city—definitely worth the $3 entry. We’ll be back soon!

Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park - Jacksonville dope!Mike: Had a nice relaxing three day stay at this park while exploring the area. I like how theres a beach across the street from the Campground. Makes for easy sunset walks or an early morning swim.

James Weldon Johnson Park - Jacksonville Alex Vane1: stopped by James Weldon Johnson Park during Art Walk Night and was blown away by the energy and creativity on display. The park came alive with local artists showcasing their work, live music filling the ai, and food trucks lining the edges with the scent of great eats. The lighting and setup gave the whole space a vibrant, welcoming vibe. It was the perfect mix of community, culture, and downtown nightlife. Whether youre into visual art, live performance, or just enjoying a good crowd, Art Walk at JWJ Park is a must-experience part of Jacksonvilles local scene.

Big Talbot Island State Park - Jacksonville Jessica Hollon-Tuell: The trail is longer than I expected, to get to the beach but it was a nice, pleasant walk. The beach itself was gorgeous! All the dead trees really gave it a mildly spooky, cool, ethereal vibe and the waves were so mild, we just chilled in the water for hours.

Little Talbot Island State Park - Jacksonville 303of3: We enjoyed this beach so much! It is less crowded and has a more rustic, natural beach setting. The sand is soft and the beach area is clean. There are lots of shells available on the beach as well.
