My wife and I have been customers here for 3 years. Today she went in for a routine cleaning, a procedure shes had done about 6 times. We have never been charged a co pay, our insurance covers cleanings. Nor has anyone told her she needed anything other than routine maintenance. Today after her cleaning she was told she owed an $80 co pay. When she asked about it, excuse #1 was that insurance procedures had changed. She disagreed and the front desk begins raising the volume of their tone insinuating she could not pay, in a room full of waiting customers. My wife calls me and asks if there has been any changes, there has not been. We then asked for the information of what was done and to bill us so that we can clear up whatever confusion there is with insurance. NO, she MUST pay now! After my wife pays the bill, I call the office. Excuse #2 is now that my insurance does not cover the service any more, wrong again. So I call my insurance company with the code information the office gives me.
Turns out they did the cleaning (insurance covers that) but also conducted a service of some kind of irrigation that is knowingly not covered. They never mentioned the additional procedure. Theyve never done this procedure in the past on her. The insurance explains that its not so much a co pay as and additional item they charged that was unrequested, and unauthorized.
When we asked for a refund of the procedure we did not authorize, they tell us theyve done it before but have always waived the fee out of courtesy. (Im sure all doctors lovingly waive fees for years).
Once you are an established customer they will start tacking on fees. Who knows if they even conduct the services they claim to add since there is never any discussion with the customer about whats being done. Then misrepresnt what the charges actually are to get your money before you can consult with your insurance company.
There has been billing issues here in the past, wrong codes submitted, co pays due because billing clerks misspell6 names, fees changing because numbers were submitted backwards to the insurance companies.
We always deal with it though, every single visit results in hours on the phone, little did we realize what we gave them grace on thinking were typos and grammatical errors were really their true attempts to trick the system just to take our money that wasnt due to them.
I dont believe they performed any additional service. They do not talk to their customers about additional services needed. Then lie about what and why you owe them.
Shady practices and dishonest services. On an island this small dont waste your time patronizing a business that is stealing from you when your not looking or able to play phone tag with them and insurance companies for hours.
