2 /5 teisha ramos: I am writing to express my sincere disappointment regarding my recent experience at Orlando Health, specifically with Devon at the reception. From the moment I arrived with my grandson, I was taken aback by his smug and rude demeanor. Instead of providing the compassionate care one would expect in a healthcare setting, he spoke to me as if I were a child, which felt incredibly disrespectful. When I attempted to explain my grandson’s situation, Devon interrupted me to inform me that he was already aware of my grandson’s prior symptoms because he had read the chart. This left me confused and frustrated; it felt as though he was dismissing my concerns rather than genuinely listening. His behavior was not only unprofessional but also made me feel belittled, as if wearing scrubs granted him a sense of superiority over patients and their families. This experience was very off-putting, especially during an emergency when I needed support and understanding. I regret not seeking care elsewhere, but unfortunately, I felt I had no choice at that moment. I hope that Orlando Health addresses this issue, as patients deserve to be treated with respect and empathy, not self righteous individuals only there for a check! Once taken back to see the other staff, we were treated kindly.
